Study Purpose: The objective of this study is to obtain a better understanding between skeletal muscle characteristics and the ability to metabolize glucose. AdventHealth is seeking African American, Hispanic and Caucasian women to join this study that will apply advanced imaging technology to study how insulin works on the body's muscle and fat tissue.

Study Commitment: 1 screening visit, 3 outpatient visits, 1 overnight visit

Age: 18-35 years old

Sex: Female

Conditions/Eligibility: Healthy, female Grandparents and parents must be participant's same race Cannot exercise more than 60 minutes per week

Study Procedures:

  • Physical exam
  • Vital signs
  • Height and weight
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) Waist
  • Hip and thigh measurement
  • IV insertion
  • Multiple blood draws
  • Urine drug screen
  • Pregnancy test

Compensation: Qualified participants may be compensated up to $1,500
