The complex high acuity-patient population seen in tertiary NICU's located in major children's hospitals across the nation is a unique predominately referral population, not seen in most NICU's supported by in-house deliveries. Existing multicenter neonatal databases do not currently focus on this population. Children's Hospitals Neonatal Consortium (CHNC) has partnered with Child Health Corporation of America (CHCA) to develop a clinical database primarily for quality improvement (Children's Hospitals Neonatal Database - CHND), focusing on this population.
