Ryan Durfee, MD

Overview

Ryan Durfee, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in musculoskeletal oncology. He diagnoses, treats and removes malignant tumors of the bone, soft tissue and nerves, including cancers that have spread to the bone causing debilitating pain and fractures. He also provides expert care for a variety of orthopedic injuries.

Dr. Durfee’s approach to care includes acting as the point person for his patients’ treatment planning, ensuring thorough communication among multidisciplinary medical team members. He has a strong interest in regenerative medicine and actively explores novel approaches to disease while placing an emphasis on patient education and the need to tailor therapies according to the needs of each individual.

An honors graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Durfee earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He thereafter undertook his orthopedic surgery residency at Orlando Health, where he was honored with the Southern Orthopedic Association Harley and Betty Baxter Resident Award for clinical and research excellence. He next completed a highly selective fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Durfee joined AdventHealth’s partnership practice with Rothman Orthopaedics after practicing for five years at Miami’s Institute for Orthopaedic Innovations. He is an active candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and a full member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and Florida Orthopedic Society.
